The Bead Hold Ltd opened in August 2004 in Point Chevalier, Auckland. The shop was the result of many years of planning, dreaming and scheming by Queen Bead and the Queen Mother. A second shop was opened in Botany South in 2005. Now remote customers or true bead-a-holics who need to shop at midnight can also beneft from our Online Shop that has recently opened.

 

The Bead Hold is an absolute treasure trove and caters for all ages, tastes and budgets. Our stores are crammed full of wonderful beads and findings from all around the world. A full range of beading tools, books and accessories are stocked and our wonderful supply of vintage buttons and art beads are sought after. Customers delight in the ambience and total creative experience. Friendly, well trained staff are always on hand to assist you.

We run a wide variety of adult classes every week for both beginners and more experienced beaders. We also cater to children of all ages with tailored birthday parties, classes and school holiday programmes. The Bead Hold is renowned for its quality tuition by well trained instructors. We have a strong focus on the quality of crafting, finishing and design techniques. Come along and learn new techniques, consolidate your existing knowledge and make new friends. We also have space in our air-conditioned parlours for you to sit and create using our tools.

QUEEN BEAD

 

 

Nia Hodgson is the General Manager of The Bead Hold Ltd. She is based at the Point Chevalier shop but you can usually see her at the Botany branch at random times on a Wednesday. She has been beading for many years and is our resident expert on all beading matters.

 

THE QUEEN MOTHER

 

 

Mary Johnston is the Managing Director of The Bead Hold Ltd and is Queen Bead’s mother! Mary is in and out of the shop and you will occasionally be lucky enough to have her teaching one of your classes.

 

 

BARONESS BRYSON OF BOTANY

 

 

Adele Bryson is the Manager of the Botany South Shop. Adele is a more recent beading convert but has quickly become an expert. She is generally at the Botany branch but can be found at Point Chevalier on Thursdays.

 

TSARINA VERKUYLEN

 

 

Rebecca (Bex) Verkuylen is the Point Chevalier Supervisor. Bex has just completed a four year jewellery design degree at Unitec. She is usually found in the store Tuesday through Saturday.

 

 

PRINCESS BEADTRIX

 

Bea is the Point Chevalier Shop Cat. She lived in the shop for a year and a half. Her favourite place in the shop was the Bead Mat basket where customers regularly found her curled up. She has now semi-retired to an Auckland suburb residing with Queen Bead but still pops in occasionally to say hello.
